Glasgow Bound: Nigeria Police Women Join Global Counterparts at 2025 IAWP Conference


Today, Monday, September 8, 2025, over 25 female officers from the Nigeria Police Force joined their global counterparts in Glasgow, UK, for the International Association of Women Police (IAWP) Training Conference. As a global organization, IAWP is dedicated to empowering women in law enforcement, strengthening their capacities, and uniting them.

The Nigeria Police delegation was led by the Force Gender Advisor (FGA) to the Inspector General of Police, AIG Aishatu Abubakar Baju, PhD, OON, mni. On behalf of all the women police officers, the FGA extends heartfelt gratitude to the HEFORSHE Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, NPM, PhD, for his visionary leadership and commitment to creating an enabling environment that allows women to excel and shine on the international stage.

AIG Baju also appreciated the IGP's commitment to ensuring the Force is gender-sensitive in its processes and thanked him for believing in the capability of women police and empowering them to reach new heights.

The 62nd IAWP Annual Training Conference, themed around global progressive policing, will take place from September 8 to 12, 2025, at the Scottish Event Campus in Glasgow, Scotland. This premier event brings together police officers and professional staff from around the world to discuss contemporary policing topics, share best practices, and enhance their skills and knowledge
