The Commission on the Status of Women remains the principal global intergovernmental body dedicated to the promotion of gender equality and the empowerment of women. The annual session convenes governments, civil society organisations, and international institutions to review global progress, address emerging challenges, and develop strategies that advance the rights and opportunities of women and girls worldwide.
The focus of CSW70 was on ensuring and strengthening access to justice for all women and girls, particularly through addressing discriminatory laws, dismantling structural barriers, and strengthening gender-responsive institutions capable of protecting the rights and dignity of women and girls.
